There is a long history of cigar smoking amongst Paraguayans. The dictator Lopez famously always had a local cigar firmly placed between his lips and you can still see, particularly the older women, surrounded in clouds of smoke as they sit in front of their houses puffing away into the night.
Since I have been living in Paraguay I have taken it upon myself to fall hopelessly in love, and addicted to, the proud local history of the cigar. I source all the tobacco leaves from within the great estancias of Paraguay and have a collection of women who are dedicated to the art of rolling and preparing the finest Paraguayan cigar.
