Kayak Trips

Bahia Negra/Concepcion: This trip starts on a Tuesday morning, as we leave with the kayaks on the Aquidaban. We arrive in Bahia Negra on the Friday morning. The distance is 550km. The timing of the trip is up to you. I recommend no more than 50 km’s a day, plus a couple of days to explore estancias and riachos. The trip is magnificent. Perfect white beaches on which to camp, endless wildlife, interesting people and histories along the route. The cost is 750 dollars for one and 1100 dollars for two. This involves all the costs for the trip once you step off the Aquidaban… except beer.

Rio Aquidaban/Rio Paraguay: Starting at Paso Horqueta and camping near the village - traveling 50 km along the Rio Aquidaban the next day and then onto the Rio Paraguay for a further 50km the following day until Concepción. The Rio Aquidaban is a stunning river that meanders beaches and through jungle thick with wildlife. Flamingos, king fishers, tuyuyu (the largest flying bird on earth) eagles, toucans, vultures and crocodiles are some of the species that can be seen. The Rio Paraguay is several KM wide, can be seriously choppy due to strong winds and is a great experience on a kayak. The trip is 600,000 Guarani (150 dollars) – this includes all the food and camping equipment, plus the cost of getting the kayaks to the start point. An extra person is 200,000 more.

Concepcion: The kayaks can also be rented for 3/4 hour trips around the port and islands of Concepción. The cost for this is 50,000 Guarani. 75,000 for two.

Ypane: From Belen back to Concepción. 50 km. The last 10 km of this trip involve going against the current of the Rio Paraguay - be aware - this is seriously hard work. The price of this trip is 150 thousand Guarani – or 200,000 for two.
